Lindley (Richard Saunders, Paul Cooney, Mark Sykes, Peter Hopkinson) were pleased to return to winning ways with a 21-14 win over Strollers (Bob Pickles, Keith Hartley, Peter Lomax, Glenda Hartley). Keith Hartley had the lone success for Strollers with a 21-18 win against Cooney, although Keith’s wife Glenda scored 17 points against Peter Hopkinson.

Rabbits Revenge (David Hemsley, Fred Rothwell, Trevor Hargreaves, M. Benson) registered a 20-14 win over Pellon (M. Bolton, Robert Walker, David Agnew,K. Barker). Barker was the outstanding player for Pellon with a 21-13 win over the experienced Hargreaves.

Whirls Wizards ( Shirley Dillingham, Robert Gartside, Lorraine Hirst, Martin Skuse) faced a confident Four Play (Geoff Hughes, Ray Clegg, David Russell, Keith Hanson), however the experienced Huddersfield based team rose to the challenge and only Russell experienced a win for Four Play as he beat Yorkshire county player Lorraine Hirst 21-14. Dillingham beat Hughes 21-15, Gartside defeated Clegg 21-18 and Skuse ran out a 21-13 winner over Hanson. Whirls Wizards ran out 20-14 winners.

In Division 2, Tykes welcomed new signing Martin Forster to their squad and in his first game for his new team he played his usual “corner to corner” mark to defeat another long length bowler Helen Smith. Halifax Ladies (Helen Smith, Ann Ranton, Ann Oates, Lynda Canning) found the longer length bowling of Tykes (Forster, Michael Hutchinson, David Hardcastle, Robert Dean) difficult  to reach and only Lynda Canning rose to the occasion as she beat Dean 21-10. Tykes ran out 20-10 winners. The game between Smith and Forster was superb to watch with both players able to reach the long corner marks, the final score of 21-7 to Forster did not do justice to Smith’s excellent efforts.

Steve Webster  and John Crowson were the winners for Halifax “Extra” (Mary Barmby, Chris Lindsay, Webster, Crowson) against Unbelievabowl , as Unbelievabowl (Andrew Gee, Sandra Cooper, Barbara Gee, Jimmy Bainbridge) ran out 16-12 winners. Both teams had two winners each but mother and son Barbara and Andrew Gee registered 21-3 wins over Lindsay and Barmby to gain valuable points. Bainbridge, making his first appearance in the winter league had a “nip and tuck” game against Steve Webster before Webster showed his green knowledge with a 21-14 win.

Simply the Best (Julie Best, Linda Gledhill, Lynn Carter, Julie Mallinson) maintained their challenge for promotion back to Division 1 with a 19-9 success against Kingston (Stuart Sykes, Christine Midgley, Bill Rust, Jack Shaw).Steve Sykes, gave a most impressive display as he beat  ex county player Julie Best 21-7. Fiery Jacks (Mike Berry, Mick Walker, Ian Crossland, Gordon Bradford) kept up their winning sequence with a 22-12 win over Blue Sox (Neil Dickie, Pat Grant, Elspeth Hartley, Peter Grant).
